An interim analysis of phase III clinical trials conducted on VersivaR, a new multi-layer composite dressing, was recently presented at the European Woundcare Management Association (EWMA) conference in Granada, Spain. The analysis shows that the use of Versiva under compression therapy has:
contributed to reduced pain both during and between dressing changes
eased application and removal of dressings
improved protection of delicate surrounding skin.
Versiva consists of a hydrocolloid layer, a non-woven HydrofibreR layer, a fluid handling layer and a top layer of polyurethane foam/film laminate. Perforations in the hydrocolloid layer allow wound exudate through to the fibrous blend, which produces a cohesive gel. The upper layer of foam/film helps maintain an optimal moist environment supportive of healing, whilst also providing protection from bacterial and viral penetration.
Versiva is a Registered Trade mark of E.R. Squibb & Sons, L.L.C.
